Astra Tech is an Abu Dhabi-based holding building a super-app around BOTIM, the messaging app it acquired in 2023, and its PayBy fintech platform. In January 2023, PayBy became the first UAE entity to receive Stored Value Facility and Retail Payment Services licenses from the Central Bank; its Botim Finance arm later became the first UAE fintech with a full Finance Company License. The group also operates Careem Pay within the Careem ecosystem.
