Baoxiniao (报喜鸟) was formed in 1996 by Wu Zhize and four partners (the company in its current form was registered in 2001) and is headquartered in Wenzhou. It designs, manufactures and retails men's (and some women's) apparel — suits, shirts, down jackets, leather shoes and accessories — with production bases in Wenzhou, Shanghai and Hefei. It listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2007 (ticker 002154), operates more than 1,600 sales outlets, and reports annual retail revenue exceeding RMB 5 billion.
