Description
BigBasket is India's largest online grocery retailer, founded in 2011 by Hari Menon, V.S. Sudhakar and others. In 2015 it became the first Indian company to adopt the dark-store model for faster delivery. In May 2021, Tata Group acquired a controlling ~64% stake for $1.5–2 billion from Alibaba and Actis. Since 2024 it has pivoted fully to quick commerce via its BB Now service (15–30 minute delivery), also using its dark stores to fast-deliver Tata brands like Croma, Titan and 1mg.
