Description
China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT), China's premier rocket maker, traces its roots to 1957 under Qian Xuesen and is headquartered in Fengtai, Beijing. A core subsidiary of CASC, it designed and built the Long March 1 rocket that launched China's first satellite, Dongfanghong-1, in 1970, and continues developing the Long March family, including newer Long March 5, 8 and 10 variants. CALT employs over 33,000 people.
