Description
Cellusion Inc. is a Tokyo-based regenerative-medicine startup spun out of the Department of Ophthalmology at Keio University School of Medicine in 2015, developing an iPS-cell-derived corneal endothelial cell substitute (CLS001) to address the global shortage of donor corneas for bullous keratopathy. In March 2023 it announced the first-in-human transplant of CLS001, and raised JPY 1.1 billion in a round led by DBJ Capital, Keio Innovation Initiative and SMBC Venture Capital, later forming an alliance with Toyo Seikan Group Holdings.
