Description
Chu Orange is the premium citrus brand of Chu Shijian, once known as China's 'tobacco king' for turning Hongta Group's Hongtashan cigarette into a national brand before an embezzlement conviction in 1999. Released on medical parole in 2002, Chu started an orange orchard in Yunnan at age 74; the fruit, originally named Yun Guan, was renamed 'Chu orange' by consumers after his redemption story went viral in 2012, selling 20 tonnes in four days.
