Description
FANCL was founded in Yokohama in 1980 by Kenji Ikemori, whose wife's skin reacted badly to the preservatives common in cosmetics at the time. That same year the company became the first in the industry to launch a preservative-free product line, following up in 1982 with its first commercial 5ml skincare lotion vials. FANCL now holds more than 530 patents and runs two dedicated R&D facilities; its "less is more" philosophy extends to a "beauty foods" line of supplements and functional nutrition products that complement its cosmetics business.
