Description
China's oldest automaker, First Automobile Works, founded in 1953 in Changchun, Jilin Province, as the country's first car factory, built with Soviet technical assistance; it produced China's first domestically made truck, the Jiefang, in 1956. State-owned FAW Group today builds its own Hongqi (including premium and state-limousine models) and Jiefang brands while also anchoring two of China's largest joint ventures, FAW-Volkswagen and FAW Toyota.
