Description
Gong Cha, a bubble-tea brand founded in 2006 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, whose name means "tribute tea for the emperor," opened its first Japan store in Harajuku in September 2015, reportedly selling around 3,000 cups on opening day and igniting the country's tapioca-tea boom. Run in Japan under a master-franchise structure, it has expanded to many outlets nationwide, part of Gong Cha's global network of nearly 2,000 stores in over 20 countries.
