Healios K.K. was founded in Tokyo in 2011 by Dr. Tadahisa (Hardy) Kagimoto — initially as "Nippon Regenerative Medicine," rebranded Healios in 2013 — as a pioneer of Japanese iPSC-based cell therapy, working initially with RIKEN on RPE cells for macular degeneration. Listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange since 2015, it develops gene-edited iPSC platforms targeting immuno-oncology, ophthalmology, liver disease, ischemic stroke and ARDS.
