Description
HNA Group, the Hainan conglomerate behind Hainan Airlines, collapsed under a severe liquidity crisis from 2017 driven by overleveraged acquisitions. In January 2021 a Hainan court placed it into bankruptcy restructuring; by April 2022 the process was declared complete, splitting HNA into four asset groups, including separately listed aviation and airport units, under trustee oversight. It now operates in a far smaller, restructured form.
