Holiland (好利来), founded in 1992 in Lanzhou by photographer-turned-entrepreneur Luo Hong before relocating headquarters to Beijing, is one of China's leading bakery-cake chains, with over 1,000 stores across 70+ cities, three factories and 10,000+ employees. Uniquely, it has never used an open public franchise model, instead relying on a 'brand direct operation' and internal joint-founder system to protect quality and brand control.
