Description
Established in Yuxi, Yunnan, in 1956 as a tobacco redrying factory and moving into cigarette manufacturing in 1958, Hongta Tobacco Group launched its flagship Hongtashan cigarette brand in 1959, named after a Yuan-dynasty pagoda. Using flue-cured Yunnan tobacco leaf and production bases in Yuxi, Chuxiong and Dali, Hongtashan remains one of China's most valuable cigarette brands, once led for two decades by Chu Shijian.
