Description
One of China's oldest shipyards, founded in 1865 in Shanghai as the Kiangnan Arsenal during the Self-Strengthening Movement. Renamed Jiangnan Shipyard in 1949, restructured into a state-owned group in 1996, and absorbed into China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) in 2000. It builds civilian and naval vessels, including large container ships, LNG carriers, and warships for the Chinese navy. Main operations were relocated to Changxing Island northeast of Shanghai.
