Krutrim (Sanskrit for "artificial") launched in 2024 by Bhavish Aggarwal, founder of Ola, to build an Indian LLM and AI cloud. In January 2024 it raised $50M (Matrix Partners India), becoming India's first AI unicorn at a $1B valuation — the fastest unicorn run in the country. Its model understands about 22 Indian languages and generates text in 10. Aggarwal has personally committed roughly ₹2,000 crore to the venture.
