Description
Laiwu Steel Group (莱钢) was founded in January 1970 in Laiwu, Shandong, growing into a producer with capacity above 18 million tonnes a year, making pig iron, billets and finished steel. In 2008, amid industry restructuring, it merged with Jinan Iron and Steel — then China's sixth- and seventh-largest steelmakers — to form the state-owned Shandong Iron and Steel Group. Laigang remains one of that group's core production sites today.
