Liby (立白) was founded in April 1994 as Guangzhou Liby Lavation Articles Co., Ltd. and reorganized as a group company in 1998; it is headquartered in Guangzhou. It is one of China's largest household-chemicals producers (laundry powders and liquid detergents), operating 13 production bases and more than 30 branches nationwide, with group revenue exceeding RMB 28.4 billion. Liby is remembered for a late-1990s advertising campaign featuring comedian Chen Peisi that became a landmark moment for domestic detergent brands competing with foreign rivals.
