Description
Rooted in Luzhou, Sichuan, Luzhou Laojiao operates the '1573 National Treasure Cellar,' continuously used since the Ming dynasty's Wanli era and protected as a national cultural relic, alongside more than 1,600 other century-old fermentation pits. Regarded as the originator of strong-aroma (nongxiang) baijiu, the company listed on the Shenzhen exchange in 1994 (000568), and its brewing craft joined China's first national intangible-heritage list in 2006.
