Description
Meiji Holdings was formed on 1 April 2009 through the merger of confectioner Meiji Seika (founded 1916) and dairy company Meiji Milk Products (founded 1917), both tracing back to a business started in 1906. A 2011 reorganization split the group into food-side Meiji Co. and pharmaceutical Meiji Seika Pharma. Its food portfolio spans milk, yogurt, cheese, ice cream and chocolate, with strong R&D in functional dairy and probiotics.
