Description
Panasonic has been trialing its 'Hakobo' delivery robot at the Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town in Kanagawa Prefecture. Phase one, from November 2020, tested autonomous driving on public roads; phase two, from February 2021, provided actual home delivery to residents. The robot autonomously judges turns and detects obstacles like construction sites and approaching bikes, stopping as needed, while one operator remotely monitors up to four robots at once. The project responds to Japan's shortage of delivery workers.
