Description
Wako campus (Saitama Prefecture, near Tokyo) is the historic main site of RIKEN, Japan's largest comprehensive research institution, founded in 1917 and relocated to Wako in 1967. It hosts dozens of laboratories under RIKEN's Center for Integrative Medical Sciences. Researchers there, led by immunologist Kenya Honda, published landmark 2021 findings linking centenarians' distinctive gut microbiome to exceptional longevity.
