Description
A Sino-German joint venture between SAIC Motor and Volkswagen Group, registered in 1985 in Anting, Shanghai — China's second foreign automotive joint venture and its first with a German carmaker. It builds Volkswagen, Škoda and select Audi models (with Audi's main lineup produced separately via FAW-Volkswagen); ownership is split roughly 50% SAIC and 50% Volkswagen AG and affiliates. For decades it has ranked among China's largest automakers by sales volume.
