Tracing its roots to the late 19th century, Shanghai Electric's modern group is headquartered in Shanghai and listed in Hong Kong (since 2005) and on the Shanghai exchange (since 2008). It is the world's largest steam-turbine manufacturer, also producing coal and gas power units, nuclear equipment, wind turbines, elevators, power distribution gear, and industrial automation. 2024 operating revenue was about RMB 116.2 billion (US$16.1bn), with new orders up 11.9% year-on-year to RMB 153.6bn.
