Description
Shanghai Environment Group operates the Laogang complex east of Shanghai — the world's largest single-site waste-to-energy facility, capacity up to 11,000 tonnes daily (Phases I-II combined reach about 9,000 tonnes/day). It processes roughly a third of Shanghai's waste and generates about 1.6 billion kWh of electricity yearly, offsetting around 500,000 tonnes of coal use. Once the city's biggest landfill, Laogang is now a model eco-park.
