Thorakao (Lan Hao Company) was founded in 1957 by Ms. Lan Hao as a small cosmetics workshop; the brand itself was introduced in 1961, built around natural ingredients such as pomelo and turmeric — its Turmeric Cream ('Kem Nghệ') remains the brand's most iconic product. The company registered patents in 1968 and opened a Cambodia branch with Southeast Asian exports beginning in 1969; Thorakao today also ships to Singapore, Australia, Russia and Egypt, and dominates the market in southern Vietnam.
