Founded in 2012 in Wuhu, Anhui, by Zhang Liaoyuan, Three Squirrels pioneered China's internet-native snack model, selling nuts and mixed snacks primarily through e-commerce under a cute squirrel mascot. It listed on the Shenzhen exchange in 2019 as the first snack company to exceed RMB 10 billion in annual revenue, and remains China's largest homegrown leisure-snack enterprise by sales as of 2024.
