Description
Taiyuan Iron & Steel (Group) Co. dates to 1934 as the Northwest Steel Mill; after 1949 it specialised in special steels, producing China's first heat of stainless steel. With annual output above 2 million tonnes, it became the world's largest flat-stainless producer in 2009, the first Chinese firm so ranked. In 2021 it made 12.73 million tonnes of steel, 4.47 million stainless. Since 2020-21 TISCO is part of China Baowu Steel Group.
