Description
China Vanke (万科) is one of China's largest residential developers, founded in Shenzhen in 1984 by Wang Shi and listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange since 1991 (ticker 000002). Shenzhen Metro Group, a state-owned entity, became its largest shareholder in 2017. Vanke expanded into property management (Onewo/万物云, HKEX-listed 2022), logistics (Vanwin/万纬物流), and long-term rental (Poetry Apartment/泊寓). It faced acute liquidity stress in 2023-2024 and received financial support from Shenzhen state-owned entities amid the sector-wide downturn.
