Description
Wumart Group was founded by Zhang Wenzhong in 1994 and became one of China's pioneering omnichannel retail chains; in 2019 it acquired an 80% stake in Metro China's business for roughly RMB 12 billion. In 2015 Zhang launched Dmall (多点), a retail-digitalization SaaS platform originally built for Wumart that now also serves Metro China, Chongqing Department Store Group and DFI Retail Group. Dmall completed a Hong Kong IPO (ticker 2586.HK) in November 2024. Since 2024 Wumart has been rolling out new formats including 'AI New Quality Retail' stores and 'Wumart Super Value' hard-discount stores.
