Description
Yan'an in Shaanxi Province served as the headquarters of the Chinese Communist Party from 1935 to 1948: the Red Army settled there in October 1935 after completing the Long March, and the CPC Central Committee relocated to the city in January 1937, making it the command center of the resistance against Japan and the subsequent civil war, through the Party's 7th National Congress. Today Yan'an is one of China's leading "red tourism" destinations, preserving more than 440 revolutionary-era sites and roughly 30 party-history museums that regularly host cadres and visitors for revolutionary-education tours.
