YI Technology (Xiaoyi), founded in Shanghai in February 2014 by Shengwei 'Sean' Da, began as a Xiaomi-ecosystem partner making the Xiaomi Yi action camera before splitting off its own Xiaoyi brand in 2016 (Xiaomi remains a shareholder). The company develops smart home cameras, dash cams and action cameras built on in-house computer-vision and image-processing chips and AI algorithms, sold in China and internationally under the YI brand.
