Description
Youku is one of China's leading video platforms, launched in public beta on June 21, 2006, by founder Victor Koo; it began as a YouTube-style user-generated content site before pivoting to licensed shows and professional content. In December 2010 it became the first independent video site to list on the NYSE. Youku has been part of Alibaba Group since 2015; its operating office is actually based in Beijing's Chaoyang district, Wangjing area, rather than in Alibaba's Hangzhou headquarters.
