Zhou Hei Ya grew from a Wuhan street stall selling spicy braised duck necks in 1997, founded by Zhou Fuyu, into a nationwide chain of vacuum-packed braised snacks (duck necks, wings, offal). It listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in November 2016, raising HK$2.37 billion and making its founder a billionaire. At its peak the chain operated over 3,800 stores across 331 Chinese cities.
