53,000 attendees in three days: what China's biggest food innovation expo teaches

The FBIF (Food & Beverage Innovation Forum) 2026 event ran April 27-29 at the Hangzhou International Expo Center, according to foodtalks.cn and other trade outlets. It brought together more than 160 speakers, over 650 exhibitors, roughly 6,000 retail and distribution buyers, and drew an expected 53,000 attendees — a scale that makes FBIF China's largest platform for launching new food industry products.
The year's theme as a working program, not an abstraction
FBIF2026's slogan, "Forging Ahead," played out through concrete discussions of the key variables shaping the industry's future: trends and innovation case studies across dairy, snacks, bakery, and beverage categories, plus dedicated tracks on functional ingredients, marketing, retail, and packaging. Exhibitors covered the full spectrum of food categories — from dairy and beverages to alcohol, snacks, convenience foods, and condiments — with both leading and emerging brands, Chinese and international alike, taking part.
Not the only venue of its kind
In parallel, from April 10-12, three more events took place at the Guangdong Modern International Exhibition Center: the 10th China International Food and Ingredients Expo, the 4th China International Pre-made Food (预制菜) Industry Expo, and the 15th Guangdong Modern Agricultural Expo — combined exhibition space exceeded 50,000 square meters, with 1,671 companies from 23 countries and regions participating. That density of industry events within a single month shows just how actively China's food innovation market is developing right now.
Why this matters for anyone tracking China's food industry
For companies looking for partners or new products to distribute, such expos are a far more efficient way to see real market trends in a single visit than scattered monitoring of individual brands' press releases. That's exactly why the tea, coffee and retail program includes visits to venues like these as part of the itinerary — seeing new products and trends before they become obvious on a store shelf.
